She has essentially spent her whole life being controlling and manipulative towards the entire household and my father has spent most of his life being too easygoing to say anything....

We've all kinda sorta turned on her in one way or another over the past few years....

I was the last and most intense....and probably the most shocking....

I actually sent her Jordan Peterson's video on Overbearing Mothers and blocked her number after that

I’ve been in a similar situation with a fractured family and the animosity was eventually repaired somewhat, so anything is possible. Family is literally family. You don’t get another mom. Just my side. However, it’s clear that Phoenix should only do what’s best for him. Things could always change but they might not.

I've read psychology articles about being raised by a toxic mother and I have had pretty much every "symptom" at one point so she definitely is. Does she care, yes, but she's got issues and takes no accountability for any mistake or pain she's caused....

My (former) household was not cohesive at all, it was 4 people doing their own thing....it's a place to sleep not a "home" if that makes sense.

Her big annoyance came from pressure surrounding academics....however, once I tried to get the career I wanted I needed longevity with jobs that I wasn't able to have because of college and my own personal struggles....the degree I was raised to believe "would get me any job" has been more of a hindrance than anything else. Being educated is fine but I've had a knack for the hands on that I was corralled away from until I was about 19 or so....

I'm planning on going to a technical college far away from my family to learn things I've always wanted to learn.....at least she will help me with that when things cool off after me being quite frankly furious at her

I have been trying for a long time....but it took a dark night of the soul to really start doing that
