That doesn't read to me as though you're commenting specifically on meeting prostitutes. If you were commenting on a prostitute, you wouldn't have suggested a restaurant or movies. Or would you have? Do you endorse taking prostitutes to movies? I acknowledged that meeting at one's home for a prostitute is a bad idea, unless she has a sterling reputation as opposed to being a rando.

Furthermore, I have used my home as a spot for a first date and ended up dating that person for over 5 years. Both of us were probably a little more careful than OP, admittedly.

I actually haven't been thinking about that at all because I don't think it makes a difference. What I find weird is that everyone's automatically assuming that a prostitute should be expected to try to steal your wallet when you're in the other room. That doesn't sound weird to you? Like why would anyone ever hire a prostitute if you know they're going to be a total kleptomaniac goblin that you have to watch for every waking second, can't let your guard down? Sounds awful.

OK, I'll spell it out as clearly as I can. You (and others, I guess) appear to be working under the impression that if you invite a prostitute (sex worker) into your home, you should expect them to do something sketchy, like try to steal your wallet. That's what they do, so you should just be prepared. I take issue with this viewpoint because it paints all sex workers as dishonest and thieving, which doesn't make a lot of sense to me. I felt it was important to call it out. This particular woman was in fact a piece of shit, but it confuses me to have everyone say "yeah man she was a hooker, what did you expect, of course she's going to steal from you!"

I didn't realize it was contentious to think sex workers don't universally try to steal from their clients, but here we are?

EDIT: I'll admit that my only experience with sex workers in my home has been with escorts, so I may not understand prostitute subculture like you all do. Maybe a hotel is better for that kind of meeting. I still don't think it's right to paint them all as thieves, but safety first and all.
