I stopped using Google Drive a long time ago after I got tired of dealing with the daily viewing limits on uploaded videos. As for mega, I haven't received any messages from them regarding a sexually explicit content crackdown. All of the videos I have uploaded are still there. The problem is we are allowed to use content hosting platforms like Google drive and mega but they are not actually ours. The servers belong to the corporations that operate them and at the end of the day, they can control what they allow us to upload. They are not our "Own private" drives. To have that we would need to purchase our own servers and have complete control over them. As long as we have to depend on companies to allow us the use of their servers we are always going to be at the mercy of censorship.

A corporation doesn't want their products to be used for pornography? Gee, who would've thought???

But seriously, saw this a mile away and glad I invested in physical storage over digital.

I wonder how this is going to affect their revenue. Let's just boycott this company. I never liked their business model anyway.

This is Google we're talking about. The CEO's not going to lose an ounce of wealth if a bunch of guys with some porn boycott their product.

This is the main problem that I see with the over reliance of online storage. The only good use that I see it for is temporary file sharing, hence why I will firmly stand behind physical storage as a superior method. Even when your Storage drive gets damaged, destroyed, or lost, the option of having multiple off-site backups is still a better option than paying a monthly service fee that will not only add up, but can disappear with a snap of a finger.

As for a community ran server, everything would have to come out of the pockets of the users as Admin already spends about a grand a month just to keep the site running.

I got you: https://workspaceupdates.googleblog.com/...drive.html

Basically what happens is if your file/drive is flag, you will no longer be able to share it. Even if others have a link to it. So while it doesn't explicity say that the drive will be deleted, it will make it unsharable. And will render any shared Google Drive here useless.
