Okay, first and foremost, FUCK TLC and their camera crew/editing team. I don't fucking know why they cut so much potentially good content in a pregnancy centric show. Like the amount of footage that ultimately gets dumped because the editing team cuts so much of it out is ridiculous.

I don't watch/care for reality television because I lump it into the same category as tabloid magazines. Garbage entertainment by exploiting the lives of others. But when it comes to camera angles, editing, shot composition, and they miss opportunities, UGH that grinds my gears.

I am ranting a bit here. It is ultimately whoever is behind the camera and editing software that has the final say, but man. Big belly money shots are considered B roll for a lot of these shows, and sadly, that isn't used a lot. The beginning of 16 & Pregnant was rough and they were still getting used to how to film the whole thing properly. But as Seasons 3 and 4 rolled out, they had a lot more focus on the belly for some of the girls.

TLC's Unexpected did a good job covering a lot of the featured pregnancies. One of our YouTube girls even made it on the show (that was a godsend, but she kinda became a different person after it). But I also can't help but feel like the production crew from 16 & Pregnant got hired onto Unexpected because they lost their jobs at MTV.

I don't know. I just get pissed when there's a really good pregnancy where she gets really big, but they skimp out on belly shots by editing in certain ways that obscures it from view. Ugh, fucking frustrating.

They probably aren't making these shows with us fetishists in mind.

Clearly. And duh, I know that.

I'm just saying that its funny how much footage is actually thrown away or stored somewhere else that never gets to see the light of day. Like its a lot of raw footage that ends up getting cut.

I've often wondered that myself: what is on the source tapes that are gathering dust in some warehouse. Even for some of the old PBS documentaries.

You are thinking with a horny mind way too much. These shows are not about catering to a niche fetish that is still considered gross by a lot of people. They are... catering to someone... I don't know. Not us. Also editing stuff out of TV and Film is normal. These shows are only 30-40 minutes, they cannot be 300 minutes of b-roll of big pregnant bellies bro

Okay, clearly I wrote my thread wrong because whatever I was trying to say is getting glossed over by the "horn-dog" mentality.

I'm saying its a damn shame these camera shots are a bit off in some cases. But once again, this is nitpicking. I'm nitpicking.

Haha, Nah I get what you're saying though

The point of these shows is to make the audience feel better about their own lives by thinking, "Well, at least I didn't turn out as bad as these screw ups". It's quite exploitative really. Just look at the shower scenes they put into almost every episode of 600 lbs life.

You know, every time I see the thumbnail for that show, I retch a little bit.

I agree on the view of exploitative. It also glorifies, which does the complete opposite of what the show tries to do (aka promote people not to do what's done on television).

Which is clearly a farce. I follow at least one of the girls on Unexpected and she puts on her story (like an advertisement) if there are currently any pregnant teens to basically sign up and audition for the show.

Until I find how much these folks are making then I feel worse.
