Thanks mate for doing a good investigation and sharing information from OnlyFans that pretty much clears up the issue. A lot of folks took the bait that fake story dished out. A popular YouTube channel I follow ran with that false narrative. I’m usually not so gullible but considering what happened to PornHub the OnlyFans story looked legit.

The issue is the part that says "as long as it is abiding by our Terms of Service". Also it says "nudity". Not sex.

Is the US' crackdown on sex work actually helping anyone? Making things more secure? Keeping kids safe? Because to me, it looks like a bunch of puritanical zealots fucking up everyone else's shit because of Republican Jesus or something. Mind your own fucking business. Literally.

I think investors are worried that a child porn incident could get a site shutdown and make them lose money and some reputation. Not to mention that pornography is illegal in China, South Korea, and most of the middle east, which happen to be major sources of foreign investment.

Don't forget that OnlyFans is a UK based company

The way everything was structured and the gamble involved with subscribing sometimes, eventually if there wasn't something like this happening you would have had something else burn enough hands that some form of quality control was going to be brought into the mix. The biggest people who end up getting burned in this are probably people who haven't diversified themselves onto multiple platforms if their only revenue is adult content. I feel like they're likely hoping to avoid the possibility of some kind of disaster that would have been avoidable if they had stepped in sooner.

There are definitely larger issues with consistency in policies and the intended uses/purposes of a lot of platforms in general. Granted what happens on Twitch and other places isn't 100% the same, but it seems to be people who do adult/risque content on various sites always have a population of people who feel very entitled to play in any sandbox they want regardless of the intended purposes of the platform and exploit any reluctance from the platform to step in.

Great news everyone, I just found out that the Onlyfans scare is fake!! I'm quite relieved!! Like really!! If sex work counts as actual work, meaning you can still make a living, because I find it interesting to see sex workers put in the work, quite risky because we love the art.
