I am somewhat ion the same boat as OP. I'm a guy, and my wife and I would love to get pregnant and have kids. But she has an anxiety disorder that right now, is only managed by medication which is known to cause severe birth defects, and there is also the possibility that I, through work-related duties, am possibly low-sperm count or sterile due to the heavy-duty cleaning chemicals I have to use. It's extremely likely we will never have children.

So, yeah, I kind of feel op's pain.
