Do you like vlogs? I personally HATE them (it's a deep deep hatred) only because they are misleading & a waste of T.I.M.E! Here is an example.. I have a video that I downloaded maybe 8 months ago.. the title is something like "baby kicking my belly hard". I open the video on YT & it is crap.. I had to fast forward to the good content. The good content is 40 secs (I don't mind the talking or snippit of music). An the rest of the video is crap

So tell me this: why do women & girls do this? They title their video 1 thing an theres at least 4-5 things in it. That is misleading an a waste of our time. And the mom's don't care. Someone should tell them. If you watch a video like (not real video btw) "review of Reeses peanut butter lovers Krispy Kreme donut", that is all you expect and all that should be there. There ar more pregnancy vlogs that do NOT stay on topic. Why don't they? It is not hard. If their video is about their belly (title says so) then stick to the topic. 

Most of the people who watch them are sucked in, they don't know what their watching. They are brainwashed. It is like watching Ben Carson on TV when I watch vlogs. Even if the women think the content is very little, little is better than nothing.

I think it has to do with how men and women interpret the world around them. Men are very results oriented. We see a problem and look for the quickest solution. Women on the other hand are details oriented. It's why women will include almost every minute detail in the stories they tell. It's engaging to them but, terribly boring for us guys. I'm sure you've probably had that "GET TO THE POINT ALREADY!" thought while listening to one of their stories. LOL

I can tell you exactly why they do it: because it boosts viewer retention. “Baby kicking my belly hard” is the hook of the video, not the sole content. If they hook someone in with that, and it doesn’t actually show up until later in the video, viewers are more likely to watch the video in its entirety. Which, thanks to YouTube’s monetization algorithm, results in more money and makes it more likely your videos will show up in people’s Recommendations. Plus, short videos (30 seconds to a minute) are just not profitable. The golden rule is 10-15 minute videos; short enough for viewers to feel like they’re not making a big time investment, but long enough to turn a decent profit for the uploader.

In summation: A hook leads to viewer retention, which leads to more money and community engagement.
