The religious right and PC left have one thing in common: To keep prostitution illegal, cus of biblical morals/ethics and feminism's "no sex objectification". I believe keeping prostitution illegal is not going to work and the only thing it'll lead to is a mass criminal network of exploiting people (esp. women) in a black market trade. In Nevada, prostitution or sex work is highly regulated, very likely the woman (and man) who are professional are doing this voluntary. The brothels or ranches are located outside of cities or metro areas, therefore, far away from being visible. Like the failure of prohibition of alcohol and marijuana, as well old laws against abortion, pornography and homosexuality (including transgender like biological men who identify as women in dresses, blouses and skirts)...the laws are going to create (not end) more social problems.
Pregnant women are growing, showing, knowing herself...and glowing bright with life. Angel

Speaking for the "PC left," we do believe in not objectifying women as sex objects, but we also believe sex work is work and that everyone deserves equal protection under the law. If someone wants to be a sex worker, that's their right, and outdated puritanical laws shouldn't stand in the way of that. So yeah -- this is all the reactionary religious right's problem. Liberals would love to see this country respect the rights of sex workers.

Sure, you and others might support legalization like with drug decriminalization and legalization, but are the politicians doing it yet? Not at the federal level. Prostitution is part of the delegated powers rendered unto the states to decide on so it might be more important to fight for it there instead. Harris has said in the past that she disagrees with decriminalization of prostitution, and I doubt Biden would be alright with it either.

We definitely need to look at how Germany regulates it all though and see what works, so we can figure out what might work over here.

Those people aren't "left." They're centrist at best. Americans do not really have true "left" options when it comes to politicians.

You can thank the Red Scare for that. Anything even remotely liberal/on the left is automatically seen as "godless socialism/communism" which has really hindered our progress over the years

It would take a VERY major shift, not just a cultural one but a political one, away from whatever our current system is, to really see any change like that. As others said, the puritanical elite/morons are too intrenched to allow such open minded concepts. They can't even get pot legalized when they could just make the government the number one seller of the shit and tax it at the same time. I would LOVE to see it legal. Imagine if it was and you could just type in your area, what you're looking for and scroll to the fetish section and boom, preggo straight to you. Or even a waiting list lmao. Imagine that, reserve a preggo in advance, cuz you know, mistakes happen.

But I find it unlikely to happen in my life time. I see Korea reuniting as a more likely thing than prostitution being legalized within like 50 years.
