Back in March, I was browsing youtube and this video popped up for a birth mod for TS4. So I clicked on it, was really impressed, then waited until this past weekend to buy the game and the Get to Work expansion pack (which is required for the hospital) since they're currently on sale. And so far, I'm pretty impressed with the mod.
So pretty much once your sim hits the 2nd trimester, you'll have to call up your obstetrician and either select a natural delivery, C-Section, or vanilla (aka classic Sims) birth. Of course I selected natural for my couple's first birth (And may do a c-section a 2nd time around).
Once her water broke and labor started, her and her husband went to the hospital to get ready. Now this is important, once you go to the hospital you'll have to stay on the lot until she gives birth. If she's not fully dialated and you leave the lot, the labor process with start over if you decide to come back. You CAN however send the husband (or whoever is accompanying her) home/work/ect. and have them return when she's dialated.
Speaking of which, just like real life she must be 10cm dialated in order to give birth. Pretty much your only three options are waiting, walking around, or using the birthing ball. You can try to dance, but your Sim will stop after a couple seconds and just wince in pain. You can have sex during this, but it won't speed up the process. You can get an epidural that may or may not work, just like in real life.
Although what I end up doing was having my Sim walk around, eat microwave food, and was bed-ridden until the end. Once she hit 10cm, it was go time and I had hubby follow her to the delivery room and watched her pop.
And you WILL gain postpartum weight as well
