is tiktok even going down now? maybe I'm crazy but I feel like this was less for security and just about taking money/data for us tech companies. Because the only change I'm seeing is now every video has a link to share to facebook whatsapp and twitter and my batch downloader/or any downloader no longer works.

can someone explain how the he double hockey sticks we're supposed to save these without some crappy screen recorder??!!

Its more about the fact that the app is practically spying on you, take this for example . Furthermore, a large owner in Tiktok is Tencent which is known for censorship and works closely with the Chinese government.

TikTok is one of 50 apps that were “practically spying on you” this way. Which is to say they were reading the data in your clipboard when the app opened. That’s it. All the major U.S. news apps did the same thing. Including FoxNews. Almost everyone, including TikTok, has stopped doing it. Although NPR hasn’t, so clearly delete that spying public-radio app before they overthrow the Trump government. /s

There are security concerns with TikTok. They’re nothing major, and plenty of other apps have the same concerns or worse. Trump tried to ban TikTok because 1) he blamed the kids for ruining his Tulsa rally, 2) he’s scapegoating China for COVID-19, and 3) he thought he could force the sale of TikTok to a U.S. company and get a kickback. Unsurprisingly, the President doesn’t actually have the power to unilaterally ban a company for these reasons. So the court stopped him. If you want more details, you can read one of the briefs TikTok’s lawyers filed that lays it all out.
