December 2019...In China a outbreak of unexplained pregnancies begins to sweep the country. The infected women give birth not to babies but large slimy globs of deformed fleshy organisms. These strange pods explode sending microscopic droplets into the air. As Chinese scientists scramble to contain the pregnancy pandemic they learn that the new virus also infects men who show no symptoms and instead become unsuspecting carriers of the virus spreading to all women they come in contacted with. Women become pregnant 5 to 15 days after being infected. The virus is soon liabled Impregnationvirus. Impreg-19 quickly spreads from Asia to Europe in a matter of weeks.

By January 2020 news of the pregnancy pandemic reaches the U.S. The president imposes a travel ban on China but it is already too late. The first cases of Impreg-19 in America are confirmed within days of the travel ban. As the situation worsens the president declares Impreg-19 a national emergency. A Impregnatiovirus task force is assembled. Shelter in place and social distancing requirements go into effect. The U.S. economy grinds to a halt as business across the country close in a wide spread effort to contain the pandemic.

Ok so that was an idea I just thought of for a story. Obviously it is based on current events. I love to create fiction that involves impregnation on a global scale so I thought what if there was a virus that could knock up women? The situation we are dealing with is a perfect model. What do you guys think? Is it to soon to write something based on a true very serious pandemic? Or is it okay to have a little fun with it? Also do you guys have any suggestions or ideas that would make Impreg-19 a hot story? I’m looking to start writing soon. Thanks in advance.

too soon? how about never, chief. absolutely tone deaf.

millions may die in America alone from coronavirus. if you're really about writing fiction, then make up a disease; don't base it on something that's causing suffering on a global scale with no end in sight.

you truly are clueless.

The movie “Outbreak” is basically what we are dealing with now. Instead of a bat it was a monkey. A virus that knocks up women is not Covid-19. With that said I should probably consider changing the country it starts in and a few other details to give it a bit more separation from true events but overall I don’t see any harm in making fiction based on a true event. Movie makers do it all the time. There are thousands of movies out there based on real life events regardless if people died or not. I tell you the over sensitivity some people have is ridiculous. South Park comes under fire constantly because people get offended way too easily. That’s why I like Dave Chappelle. He says what he wants and doesn’t care if some people don’t like it.

Good feedback.

The whole concept is still tone deaf. Like Auto said, if you plan on making a story like this, then come up with some way to avoid any possible connection to the current pandemic.

If years of Stalag fiction and Naziploitation movies have taught me anything, it's never too soon to turn tragedy into fetish.

THEN BASE IT ON A FICTIONAL MOVIE AND/OR BOOK, NOT A CURRENT GLOBAL PANDEMIC.

"over sensitivity", huh? say that when those close to you pass away from this virus. and, at the projected figures, you WILL know someone close to you who will die from this. then continue on writing your shitty beat-off fiction based on the deaths of many.

i've had you on "ignore" for a while now, as you've said some unbelievably dumb stuff before... this takes the cake. you are a fucking idiot. an absolutely clueless turd. piss off.

If anyone needs to be ignored it's big internet bullies like you sir who can't have a conversation without losing their shit and being downright rude. I'm not going down to that level with you. I respect your opinion. LET ME BE CLEAR: No one in the story I have planned is going to die. Again, my concept is a virus that knocks up women. It is not a replica of Covid-19. Okay instead of calling it "Impreg-19" how about "Impreg-20" Does that work for you? Sometimes life mirrors fiction and fiction mirrors life. If I had Covid-19 I would still write my story because It is not hurting me or anyone else. I get it you don't like me and you go out of your way to make that known every time I post an opinion you don't agree with. Do I ignore you? No because I want to know everyone's opinion on stuff. Even the ones I don't agree with.

Thanks for the feedback. If you want to ignore me go ahead. It will do both of us a favor.

Titanic was one of the first big tragedies with a huge number of people that lost their lives. Did that stop movie producers from making films about it? If this dude that is all over me had his way we wouldn't have James Cameron's 1997 Titanic or any of the other versions that were made. I'm not writing a story about the current pandemic. My story is not going to be a Coronavirus story. I am simply basing my fictional impregnating virus on the way Covid-19 started and how the government dealt with it. That's where the similar stuff between my idea and the real pandemic end.

I’m just now realizing that you genuinely don’t see the issue. Basing a movie on a historical event, such as Titanic, is fine because it is a major historical moment. People make movies about such events all the time, but it is often a long time AFTER the event takes place. He’s not criticizing you for coming up with an idea about an epidemic of pregnancies since that’s a mildly common idea people have for stories. He’s criticizing you for coming up with “Impreg-19” and basing the entire origin story on the very real and deadly Covid-19. It’s not deeper than that.
