I believe what they're referring to is the shame of having the fetish even to oneself. I'm more than sure that any sane person wouldn't go around telling people that they like Crocs or what not. It's basic social decency and mindfulness.

Sometimes I do. But thant I think than most of us in the wolrd have fetishes, and this one is far from being the weirdest. In fact, which fetish isn't weird ? As long as we're not creepy, we rather like a woman when she's not at her top physically. In my opinion, pregnancy fetish is almost the most ... "wholesome" fetish I know ? "Positive" ? I don't know what the best word would be here. But we're fine.
I may be biaised by the fact I indeed have this fetish.

Yes and No.

For the pregnancy fetish itself not at all. 
Pregnancy is 1 of the few natural things you can have a reasonable kink for. 
A woman with a babybelly is an indicator for a healthy fertile female.
From an evolutionary viewpoint, it would be strange for a man to search the opposite.
What i am more ashamed of are kinky "fantasies" like the mother wanting to get her womb filled even more (cumflation) or birthsex.

That aside tough, a pregnancy fetish is the last you should be worried about. There are a damn lot of weird fetishes out there, most are just stupid - but harmless, some are borderline extreme and can involve pain/ injuries.
I mean, people that know me probably also know that i also have a vore fetish (that weird fantasy kink of being consumed/absorbed alive by another being).
In my case getting eaten by a (mini) giantess and then being digested/absorbed into her thighs and ass.  Odd, stupid, but still a pure fantasy-fetish. That is something i am actually often ashamed about.

Well if it makes you feel any better as far as fetishes go, it mostly falls under the happier category of Partialism (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partialism) rather than Paraphilia which includes....some of the much more fucked up ones.

A pregnancy fetish pales in comparison to those; in any case shame is only a human/social construct, nobody has a right push shame against your thoughts, they aren't concrete actions.

Similiar in that no-one has a right to force Religion on you, it's the 21st Century, conservative ideals can go fuck themselves.

Personally, I have accepted my fetish. And I think Paradox and Tomostrife have a point, I think the key about being out and about and not being shamed by others for this fetish is not to advertise your fetish at all, (that should really go for all fetishes and kinks). But if you find yourself getting close to someone who is pregnant feel free to give appropriate compliments. I work in tourism where I meet dozens of pregnant women every year and just by being professional and polite I get to rub plenty of bellies or admire respectfully from a distance. Again, I think you shouldn't be ashamed in any way, just be polite and see where it takes you!
