So, I've been rather outspoken about trades in the past, but have more or less settled down to a quieter position on them. Then bellysrus posted in this thread:

This is supposed to be a community that shares. I understand that paid content may have certain strings attached, because someone legitimately spent money to obtain something. But bellysrus was trying to force trades for content that was obtained for free. I find this intolerable, and was immensely pleased when the better members of the group stepped forward to share.

This is getting to become a major problem in our community here. I would like to suggest that we consider a tag or some sort of regulation on trade replies. Maybe even its own separate section exclusively for trades. A section where you can post trade requests and offers, if you will. And prevent people from posting outside of that section with "I have what you want, PM me for trade" or something like that.

It's immensely frustrating encountering people like bellysrus trying to blackmail trades for free content. Please consider this suggestion. Thank you.

As much free content as this place gets on a daily basis, are people geting this anal over a handful of users who want to trade? There's a line between sharing and just being straight up greedy and ungrateful when you don't get what you want for free. It's only fair to also bring up the excessive begging and freeloading that's becoming a problem as well here. When 9/10 one of the first comments after a link to a drive is shared is "do you have moar of _____", then you know it's a problem.

The narrative that this community is all about sharing is toxic and only promotes hostility and gluttoney. It's already droven away many people who used to share in the past since what's shared is never enough.

I agree that the trade request in that thread was inappropriate -- the posts have been deleted @Ran. We're going to start assessing which trade requests are appropriate in the videos section. As things stand, "Requests" is an implied section for trades.

People need to be more grateful in response to sharing as well, that's a fair point @Glittering_You330. If you could refrain from bashing the site whenever the opportunity arises, we'd find that helpful when looking at your suggestions. My assumption is you're mostly just looking for excuses to be negative (based on your posts in other threads and here) -- this isn't constructive and we're inclined to ignore most of you feedback.

I have taken into consideration the way that I come across on this site, and have decided to be less blatantly asshole-ish. I only ask that you don't consider my request to be coming from a place of sheer parasitic motivation.

I've enjoyed this site for years because of the open content. Not trades. This sentiment doesn't come from a place of "I wanna jack off for free" so much as "If we share everything we can, no one will actually need to pay for good content".

I'm confident enough in my original post to ask you to put it to a poll. Don't leave this post up to me alone. Ask the site what everyone wants. No matter how the poll goes, I will not comment or bash or flame or what have you. Please, just find out the sentiment for the populace that populates this amazing forum.
