Has any thought been given into adding animated WEBP's as a supported attachment type?

In a similiar vain to what was discussed earlier in https://preggophilia.com/gif-size-limit-t

The difference in file size compared with a GIF of similiar resolution is up to 64% less for WEBP. While it might not be as significant as the size reduction that can be achieved with WEBM & MP4, it would at the very least allow us to do more with the 6.5MB limit.

Probably a question of whether MyBB can natively support it, or whether it's possible as php plugin (I'm sure ChatGPT 4.0 can conjure something up....seems to come up with appropriate looking code for a MyBB plugin).

Anyway food for thought.

Nope I don't really have PHP experience period. Reading into it a bit I've seen discussions mentioning how there's no thumbnail support for WEBPs without conversion, implies you'd have to open them in new tabs which wouldn't be great.

Curious if tiny MP4's would be easier to support, would even say the limit for those could be set even less than the current GIF size limit.

Would be a damn sight more efficient for storage, and simpler to create than optimized GIFs....would just be a question of implementing a player that handles enough encoders (guess that's the positive side of GIFS/WEBPs, the user doesn't have to think about how they encode the video for compatability)
