(January 4, 2019, 3:26 pm)admin We definitely appreciate the huge number of pictures @sbflicker and others take time to share. They're viewed frequently and these threads have many subscribers despite a high volume. Without this content being organized into mega-threads, the problem of new threads sometimes falling off the first page would worsen.

As Preggophilia nears half a million pictures, better organizing and distinguishing sets of pictures is becoming a top priority. Tagging is essential for posts and threads as a whole but, given some script issues, this might not be implemented until the next update. Thread prefixes might be worth exploring too and this can be added fairly easily. Another idea is to group threads with high like-to-view ratios. That is, an abundance of likes despite a relatively low number of views. This would partially solve the problem of threads disappearing.

@tomostrife I agree that unique contributions need to be distinguished. This should be automated and one idea is to use the ratio I described above. As a start, I'd find a way to list around 5 threads (from pictures only) on the front page for 7 days or something. Once a thread appears within the list, it would never reappear. This would be in addition to a "newest threads" or "newest posts" section too. I'm also looking into a Reddit-like "hot" thread listing option (basically listing threads chronologically and then shifting them around according to likes).

Take a look at the World of Warcraft news website MMO-Champion. Something like that may be what you have in mind but it wouldn't be easy to implement.

Which section of the site @AndreSerizawa? Can you provide a link to whatever you have in mind? Unless I'm missing something, the index looks like a blog and the forum itself is a standard forum.

If you mean the "Recent X Posts" boxes located at the top of the index page, that is something I'll be implementing. Above all, "Best Threads of the Week" feature is a priority.

Yep, that's what I was referring to. You could make a box or several boxes to highlight threads from certain catagories within the forums.

@Akhenaten Oh no worries, I understood your OP and agree with many of your observations. @tomostrife raised some good points too.

Every once in a while an amazing post is made that catches even my attention and, as tomostrife stated, these threads are at risk of not receiving proper attention. This is something I'd like to fix. It's really important to LIKE what you like and appreciate! Let the person know you value what they're sharing on the site.

@Porkchop your threads are major highlights for me personally. As is pretty much anything from @AquaL. I can tell there's an effort to curate finds and focus on quality. Quality AND quantity, a rare combination!

Not to play favorites, but as for recent individual finds, tomostrife's Russian thread, mightyhammer's multiples thread and Raphic's thread all come to mind as treats. Under the system I'm planning and will start developing, this kind of content will be featured on the front page. I do like mega-threads and these are suitable for frequent posters. Once this system is implemented, regular contributors who come across something truly special should create a new thread devoted to that find to ensure proper recognition (and front page exposure).

To expand on what was said above, and perhaps people don't fully realize this, acknowledging finds and at least liking a post is important. I personally get very upset -- coming close to issuing temporary bans (or restricting posts which I've done to MrTek for his persistent creepiness -- he's never shared content and undermines almost every thread in which he posts) -- when somebody actually complains or makes a snide comment as described by AquaL. Sheer ingratitude especially from non-contributors is completely unacceptable. This is the internet and this site in particular is an old-school forum, so it kind of comes with the territory, but damn... gratitude goes a long way.

Ask.fm, LiveJournal, Tumblr and other sites used to be mainstays. There was also a mainstream pregnancy community/social platform whose name escapes me. It was a treasure trove, especially for teenage pregnancies. I really wish I'd saved more content from MySpace. I'm old enough to have used MySpace and it was actually possible to search their entire member base, including teens, on the basis of pregnancy status. One option was expecting and the amount of pregnant teens on that site was simply incredible. To my knowledge, Instagram is pretty much the only means to find teen pregnant content to share as everything else has been walled off or restricted to adults.

(January 5, 2019, 12:03 pm)Akhenaten I was complaining that when thousands of beautiful young women pose for artsy Instagram photos by the dozen to flaunt their belly like it's a cute new pair of shoes, it doesn't stimulate me the way the old shit did. Now that it's so pervasive and public, it seems watered-down and less raw and intimate. It's terribly ironic -- more availability and arguably more beautiful content, and yet it's less satisfying. I've never abused drugs but I imagine it's something like how after a while, you need stronger, more frequent hits of the same stuff to reach the highs you did when you first started.

This gets to the heart of the matter. 10-15 years ago posting pics of your preggo self was just something people did because they didn't know any better or just to share with friends and family. Now it's a cottage industry, and the ordinary photos of women snapping pics of themselves half-dressed without makeup in a dirty bathroom mirror have been replaced with perfect hair and makeup and Insta/Snapchat filters and are super-polished so they can gain wider attention on social media. There's a certain authenticity that is lacking, and I miss it.

Does anyone know of any decent AND current unorthodox sources? Pregnancy communities?

Think you might be referring to ExperienceProject (may it rest in peace) - that was the first real community I ever actually interacted with, come to think. Whoof.

It's not like 10 to 15 years ago when they were a little easier to find.

I feel like the bigger problem is too many are waiting for someone else to make something so they can consume, which is fine but at the same time it's kinda selfish. It's not as easy as too many people think and a few folks on this site can certainly speak to that more than I ever could. There needs to be MORE sites at the end of the day and more variety. Not just sites like this but as has been most requested dating/hookup/NSA sites, too. WE need to be the ones who make it happen obviously. The obvious problems are a lack of willigness due to the time and money investments alone. Until those are figured out, nothing will happen.

As an aside: Can we either do away with the no Necroposting rule or otherwise just automatically lock threads older than a certain point like GameFAQs does? I believe they have a system in place that automatically locks a thread after 60 days of no new posts or something like that. MMO-Champion's got something like that but the threshhold's a bit longer. I ask because in most sections, threads on the first page can be considered inactive after a week's passed.
