(August 7, 2022, 7:12 pm)quasa2 (August 6, 2022, 5:59 pm)BUMIL_Lovers So, all your are deleted ? I have 16 accounts. I would guess 30% got deleted. just a wild guess. could be less. I seriously don't know if they will delete everything if I don't log in once for too long because of inactive. I just don't know.
That's exactly why they were deleted. MEGA will automatically delete files if you don't log in for over 6 months. Simple solution is to just log in every few months and keep a tab.
Edit: Scratch that, they will delete Free accounts after 3 Months of inactivity. If you pay for storage, then you have 6.
So again, just remember to log in.

you are wrong. they don't delete free accounts after 3 months of inactivity. I was inactive for over 1 year. then they deleted like 70% not everything. I don't know man mega.nz is just mega weird.
it is too much of a hustle and annoying to keep a list just for porn. what ever I will just upload to google drive where I know that it does not get deleted if I'm too long inactive.

It's literally in their terms and condtions. Either way, it's ultimatley your own fault for not logging in for over a year. When dealing this type of stuff, you can't just set it and forget it.

bro I've been inactive for a year and they did not deleted the accounts. they only over deleted vids because it was over 20gb. like storage limit is 20gb but I had 37gb. I will just use google drive.

(August 6, 2022, 8:04 pm)Way123 I say forget relying on file sharing sites and invest in a NAS or server and share files that way. IMO, this is good advice only for those with the knowledge and willingness to accept risk/responsibility for 1) hardware maintenance and repairs, 2) abuse and/or getting pwn3d by bad actors, and 3) potentially drawing the attention of your ISP due to bandwidth usage. Exposing a NAS/storage server to the internet is extremely risky.
Every solution has drawbacks. Pick your poison.

I wouldn't mind if we shared torrents by magnet links. And seeded them indefinitely of course. Wouldn't have to worry about the issues you've been talking about.

Every solution has drawbacks. Pick your poison. This little brainstorming we've got going on stuck with me and gave me an idea: cloud storage for "innocuous" stuff (Youtube, IG, TikTok etc.) which is extremely unlikely to get taken down, torrents and/or a server for seedier (pun intended) stuff (camgirls, JAVs, etc.) which is bound to run afoul of one rule violation or another. Torrents also make sharing entire collections easier than the current "buy a premium MEGA subscription and import everything that tickles your fancy before it all expires" method. Prior knowledge of security protocols is practically required as you said, but there have to be better - and less expensive - ways to do this.

Unless you're on boat to go back to torrenting, this is probably the only other alternative besides relying on cloud storage. Granted nothing lasts for ever and each option has drawbacks, at least the former methods aren't as problematic as uploading a drive and pray that it doesn't get taken down the next day.
Not to mention it'll be good knowlege for people to learn. People have gotten spoiled to the point where they're tech-illiterate over the simpleist things with Google Drive. Teach them how to be a seeder and have them contribute instead of having their hands out and asking for "moar" all the time.

I don't really have a skin in this game, but torrents may well be the best overall solution for sharing if you are trying to get around DMCA and/or proactive monitoring of copyrighted content. Just remember that you can always get popped by your ISP.
All I'll say is that making a NAS or storage server open to the world is scary as hell unless you have an IT/cybersecurity army behind you, and it goes against almost every best practice in the book.
For people's own personal archive uses, there are inexpensive cloud options out there (like Backblaze B2) that kind of let you do your own thing, but will respond to DMCA requests if you start sharing content.

Just use a VPN to hide your IP address. Problem solved.
