Has anyone used the Just A Baby smartphone app (not sure if it's available for download on phones other than iPhone)? It's a sperm donor app. Their tagline is literally: "Find people, Make babies"

I just downloaded it 4 days ago and have already matched with 18 couples or women who are interested in having my baby. I imagine you might get different results where you live, but some are willing to travel to you or pay you to travel to them. I've even matched with two women in Australia and one in Canada (I'm in southwest U.S.). Many of the profiles are from gay female couples and most want to be impregnated artificially, but there are some single and/or straight women looking for a co-parent or sperm donor to inseminate them naturally. I've already met 3 single straight women that want me to impregnate them naturally, one of which I'm scheduled to meet up with tomorrow morning to start.

Things don't usually go this well for me, so I'm wondering if anyone else has used this app and I'm falling for some trick or getting really lucky or maybe everyone has had that experience on here...

Sounds like an obvious trap to get desperate guys hooked on child support. The fact that you can't even use the app for defense in court is a good sign to stay away.

Sounds like a potential legal nightmare and at the very least a scam.

Because my wife and I are still tied into her old surrogacy community (and therefore, people with fertility issues), I've known of a few couples that tried to use Just a Baby to find a donor. The people using it as a "quasi-dating" site are doing it wrong because it makes the well-intentioned users wade through a cesspool of weirdos. Most of the donors these couples matched with were dudes insisting on "NI" (natural insemination, i.e. sex) which was a hard no. They ended up looking elsewhere.

So what is your motivation here? Are you genuinely looking to help a woman or couple have a child, or are you just looking for sex? If it's the former then you might have some luck, although you should consider sex a bonus and not a given. If it's the latter then get off a goddamn sperm donor site and use a dating app. Either way, don't let your dick get so hard that it stops you from protecting yourself physically (meet in a public place, i.e. guard against catfishing), sexually (STDs), financially, and legally.

Sorry guys, it was late and I wasn't paying attention to what I was writing, but I should have added that we arranged this a few days ago. We've video chatted and will be meeting in a public place first. I also signed a contract she had drafted up as far as donor ID goes for the future and we exchanged health records showing we were both clean.

I'm genuinely trying to help some women and not one of the dudes they all tell me about that's JUST trying to get their dick wet, BUT also embracing the ones who do want to conceive naturally. There are several other women I'm actively getting ready to donate to artificially, contracts and health records included.

Cool, but just a word of advice: you should really get someone you trust, preferably your own lawyer, to look over any contract to make sure it adequately protects you.  My wife's surrogacy contract took about 10 pages to say that the kid would not be ours regardless of anything that happened to the intended parents, and that process didn't even involve any of our genetic material.

Thanks. I do appreciate the advice and insight. You're right, I probably got too excited at the whole notion before cautiously thinking it all through. I will look more into this.

Donors are protected in the US and elsewhere. You cannot be on the hook for child support, but consult a lawyer and ensure that signed donor agreements are in place.

I may be wrong and am not a lawyer, but I believe it is a bit murkier than this and can vary by state. In my state and possibly others, the term "donor" and its legal implications only apply when the donor submits their sperm to a clinic or fertility doctor. Dealing directly with an intended parent can be legally dangerous for both sides without a lawyer on each side looking out for their best interests.

You're right about there being a fair amount of variation state-by-state; definitely worth consulting a lawyer. It's been a while since I've looked into this stuff (I was exploring doing the donor stuff and might revisit it), but if I remember correctly, even private donors are shielded from paternity/lability. As I recall, the method also matters: "natural" insemination/donation has fewer protections than artificial. Things are evolving pretty quickly with the rise of IVF and ancestry services, etc.

But yeah, 100% consult a lawyer before putting your sperm in a woman (lol).
