As titled. I think that this has not much to do with normal candid-photographing. People in candid photos feel more personal and realistic when taken yourself compared to thousands of pregnancy pics and videos, which are much better in resolution, precision, etc? Or is it the moment of tension? Something else?

It's probably all the reasons you listed. Though, I probably wouldn't feel comfortable doing it myself. Too scared.
