In many incest stories, the set up is the family members are isolated from civilization and turn to each other for release.  Is there a real term or this? Is it common IRL?

Incest is a topic people don’t like to discuss for obvious reasons. It used to be included as a category on porn sites however it seems to be a subject they are shying away from nowadays.

The stuff you see now is mostly step parent and step son/daughter. Unfortunately yes incest happens in real life and Alabama is likely a hotbed for that sort of unsavory activity.

As far as stories go, the premise for the actions being carried out can be the result of several things but a family being stranded and isolated from civilization seems to be the most compelling setup.

It's common for someone to be at a family reunion/picnic and have sexual thoughts after seeing their hot cousin for the first time in years. I'm pretty sure there's even a thread or two on here of some guy taking pictures/getting hard at his pregnant cousin at a BBQ.

And if you want to get scientific about it, having offspring with your cousin actually isn't as "genetically distasteful" as with your sibling or, worst of all, a parent. But facts don't matter much these days.
