Some women definitely are attracted to married men. I'm sure there are many reasons for this. Married men have demonstrated a willingness to commit. A woman may like that, but not be ready for commitment herself, so she "tries on" another woman's committed man. Some women like the idea of having an affair without the danger of commitment because he is committed elsewhere. Since she makes no such demands, her married lovers are even more grateful to her. Some women just groove on the naughtiness factor (Don't we all sometimes?). Some women are just drama queens.

Mostly, this doesn't have anything to do with them getting pregnant. Okay, some women get pregnant "by accident", either carelessly (usually) or by contraceptive failure. (I submit that no woman ever becomes a mother by accident. It is always a conscious choice, but that's a discussion for another time.) Drama queens crave the conflict. Overwhelmingly, it is an undiluted disaster for a mistress to get pregnant by a married man. Special exception: maybe she is looking to cash in. Think Arnold Schwarzenegger's maid.

I got some interesting advice when I was young and newly married. An old guy I worked with said, "If you're going to have an affair, have it with a married woman. Then she has as much to lose as you do."
