Two wives get pregnant at exact same time

This story made the rounds a couple days ago and it's the stuff that dreams are made of. Two (very attractive) women in a same-sex marriage both use an at-home fertilization kit with sperm from a donor, in order to double their chances of having a baby. They BOTH get pregnant, and end up delivering three days apart.

That's really a very sweet story. I didn't know home insemination kits were a thing. I hope they are bullet-proof anonymous or the donor might get tagged for child support down the road.

It's not like the kit came preloaded with sperm. They would've chosen the donor.

How that would even work. Would the workers at the factory be forced to ejaculated into the kits as they are made?

What a horrible risk for the donor! At least two states have successfully come after donors for child support after couples break up, not to mention private claims. All that has to happen is for one of the moms to apply for food stamps. The states and the courts routinely invalidate any contracts the donor and the mom may have made.

When performed within state law and a sufficient legal agreement, sperm and egg donors are sufficiently shielded from liability and custody. Some states require the sperm to be obtained through a sperm bank and/or the insemination procedure be performed by a doctor. In this case, the couple lives in California where even a verbal agreement will suffice.
