What are your thoughts on Toys R Us and Babies R Us going out of business?

Bain Capital did what it always does... buy company, load company with debt, tank the company, profit. Shit heads.

That aside, most retailers should probably expect grisly ends like this anyway. Amazon's eating everyone alive.

Toys 'R Us has been expensive for a long time and customer service experience has gone massively downhill over the last decade.

Many toys are at least a buck or two more there compared to Wal-Mart or Amazon. Not a recipe for success and they never seemed to adapt to the online game.

I remember walking in there last year and peeking around the games section and being amazed how much money i was saving at thrift stores. Helped swap the wife to my hobby a bit more after that.

Yeah, another former retail giant bites the dust. It's a sign of how much smaller the retail market is thanks to the convenience of online shopping. Sears will probably be the next to go. It's a shame though, I used to love going to that store as a kid.

Bain didn't make a profit on this Buyout they lost 1.28billion and never took a dividend the Banks that funded the buyout may have broken even or made a slight profit over the few years.

OK, so skip the "profit" step in this case? Same result for the victim company.

Hell, I liked going to Sears as an adult. Never understood all the hate for that store. I felt very comfortable making big appliance purchases there.

Another relic from my childhood that's gone...alongside K.B Toys, Circut City, and Blockbuster. But yeah, by the mid 2000s, the quality of that place had really went downhill, at least at my local stores. I will miss their exclusives though since they used to have alot of DBZ action figures that weren't available anywhere else.

It's sad for me to see a store that me and my brother used to harp on going to when we were little to buy all of our toys and video games when we were younger. I did buy a Funko the other day that was 10% off the original price. Forgot to ask them how much the Toys 'R' Us sign is for?
