Hi Can anyone offer me good advice on taking that perfect photo/video in public?

I saw a nice Preggo today and manged to get some good photos and after a while her Partner came upto me and asked me why I was taking photos of his Girlfriend for?

Brushed it off an excuse that I wasn't and I was just taking photos of the views ect and he went off then.

I was going to point out the filming and Photography laws in Public places, is that you can film anyone in public and you don't need their permission!

The Camera I was using was my Canon DSLR, but I also have a phone, are there any apps that can do the same thing for next time?

That would've made the entire confrontation a lot worse since he already caught you recording his girl.


As for a couple of tips,Invest in a good hidden body cam. While the quality of footage won't be a good as your phone or dedicated camera, it's the most discreet option.

Although for a cheaper approach, just get a t-shirt with a front pocket, cut a pin shaped hole in the pocket (or big enough so your phone's lens can record through) slip your phone in and record. Then wear a jacket or outer long sleeved shirt over that (just don't button it up).

Any thoughts on a phone app?

Yeah, not the best way to be discreet there.

Just use your phone, put it in video mode, casually hold the phone by your side, and don't EVER look at or touch the screen until you are away from the area. You also really only get one or two passes before you start to draw excessive attention to yourself. If you get it, you get it; if you don't, you don't.

Use StealCamera for iPhone and for gods sake never use a big ass DSLR to take candids
