With all of the crazy things going on in 2020, the massive expansion that destroyed entire city blocks in Beirut has to be the ultimate sign that this year is cursed. There are so many different angles of the blast captured on film and new videos continue to surface.
I just learned that a woman was in labor at a hospital and was moved to a room and prepped for birth just moments before the explosion. The blast damaged the hospital building knocking out the power forcing the women to give birth in the dark.

Well, shit happens constantly, regardless of the current year's curse status. What really amazed me about that incident was the footage - there's so much, and all of it in decently high quality! Sometimes, I feel like technology is the closest thing to actual magic we have in real life.

Exactly. There's been much worse years than 2020. This is the first bad year in recent history where each event can been well-documented since almost everywhere you go there's at least someone with a phone ready to record.
Imagine if they had 4K cameras during The Black Death, Polio Epidemic, or even the Potato Famine, and that's not even scratching the surface.

Just like the majority of open discussion threads here such as the Covid one and every other thread that deals with morality, politics, or religion. It seems like every non-pregnant related thread ends up with people bickering.

That may be true, but the description for this section does say "anything goes"

That may be true, but the description for this section does say "anything goes" Everyone seems to have missed the point. I was intending for the discussion to be about the pregnant woman that gave birth after the blast. It was not supposed to be a discussion about the blast itself of a debate about what time in our history was worse than the other. I mentioned the hospital birth to stay on topic with the them of this forum.

Yeah, I mean hopefully her and the baby are doing alright but it's not the first time a woman's giving birth during a tragic event. At this point the birth is moot compared to the explosion.

That isn't true at all since Admin and the mods delete the more controversial threads and flame wars such as the George Floyd protest one.

That isn't true at all since Admin and the mods delete the more controversial threads and flame wars such as the George Floyd protest one. Conversation threads get removed if they are deemed by Admin to be overly toxic and inciting over the top rage from people verbally attacking each other. This thread contains a mention of pregnancy and as long as the comments focus on women giving birth in inconvenient moments we should be okay. Staying on topic is key with any conversation thread.

Calm down dudes.
I wonder what it was like for the mother to have to deal with that. Normally there's a bit of a sadist in me about labor, but this doesn't do it for me at all, tbh. I just feel bad for everyone involved.
