Specifically Colombia: 61 per 1,000 women aged 15 to 19.

Taking care of a child when you yourself is still a child is not small feat. Add the problems of puberty, school, peer-pressure, and it makes sense why teen mothers are treated good. It's better than treating them like sluts with no future.

When society praises something, you get more of it.

I think your both right. Back in the days it was not uncommon for people to get married in their early teens and start haaving kids. If they were married the pregnancy was not considered illegitimate.
