As internet literacy increases globally at an exponential rate, text-based media is losing popularity everywhere. Seems ironic to say, but forums are basically unheard of nowadays. I won't be a grumpy grandma and suggest that "people just don't want to read anymore" - I think it's just that more people are using media-sharing platforms, thus more visual media is produced. I have stopped writing fic for mainly this reason, and anything I do write at this point is basically for myself because I know there's no audience.
