Picture heavy pages are taking forever to load, and sometimes just not loading half the pictures, and it seems to be getting worse. Is is just my old broken down computer? Not having any real problems with any other websites.
Site Support & Problems

It's not just you -- we're receiving an abnormal amount of traffic and the server migration isn't complete. I'm not convinced that a faster VPS will solve the problem but it's worth trying.
Resource Limit Is Reached
Yep, we're experiencing a surge in traffic. Our new host is finalizing the server setup -- the migration will be finished over the weekend. We'll then know whether it worked.
Admin and the site team, thanks for your hard work keeping the forum up and running. Hopefully, the new host is just the remedy we need.
Thanks orta -- the new host is very accommodating and we should be able to optimize this otherwise outdated script. Moving 300,000 pictures (150,000 full-size images and 150,000 thumbnails) will take at least two days.
Update: the file transfer is still in progress (far slower than anticipated). The surge in traffic will subside but performance is still an issue -- we hope to be operating on a new server by this weekend.

Hey admin, ya know, I'm kinda curious what exactly runs the site, like, how much RAM you have to use, what CPUs you use (or are allowed), site size, things like that. I'd love to get some education on how things are run, if that's ok. Planning to go into computer science & engineering.
Hi Coretz -- I was meaning to respond to this question sooner. Next week (once we're beyond some of this stuff) I'll outline the setup, old and new alike, if it's of interest to you.

We're on the old setup and I'm not sure we'll bother to move having corrected a major deficiency affecting the script. | |||||||||||||||||||
