Would you let your elementary aged kids be at the birth of a sibling?

Having been there at that age, I'd say a cautious yes, but definitely make sure they have somewhere to go if they don't want to be there. If a friend can come with the sole purpose of getting them out of it can be available, that's probably a good option.
For the record, I was more or less ok, I wasn't in the room, but I could still hear my mom from anywhere in the house, but one of my other siblings wound up having a small panic attack from it all.

TY @EdisKrad18 I was thinking all of what you mentioned. I bet many families would have Nana & Papa there if the kid wants to go to another room.

No. Our youngest was born in 2020 so we thought about doing a home birth, (we had 3 already) but decided against it and found that BIA had a maternity only hospital on a nearby rez.

On one hand, I can see the value in it since they'll be able to see how a baby is born, but on the other hand, I wouldn't want to show them all the gory details just yet. They're still young and impressionable, and birth is an intense experience, so it could unintentionally traumatize them.

I have done this. You need to preface it as an educational experience or it will just be gross, scary and confusing

On an unrelated side note, assuming it was a home birth, what did you do with the Placenta?

It was in at birth clinic.  The first two were in hospital, but with the second, my wife had a bad time, largely with how the staff kept treating her like she was a clinical experiment, so we went to the best clinic we could find for the third.
I've only ever seen the placentas being disposed of, which I think means that the end up burning them.   We didn't plant any tree or anything with them.
