I've run into this a few times now... people with private messaging disabled.
Is disabled the default state for new members? Or are people actively going and disabling it? Seems a little weird to disable that feature.

Hi Akhenaten -- private messaging is indeed enabled by default. Quite a few members choose to disable it for whatever reason.

I think people who disable receiving pms should be disable to send them too. I've received one from a user who could not receive mine.

I wasn't aware that sending is still possible upon disabling the PM function. It might be the case that upon commencing a discussion, PM functionality persists even after shutting it off -- either way, I'll look into it. Ideally combined control of sending/receiving can be sorted out, and if not, private messaging will be permanently on and users will only have the option of disabling email notifications (and contacting by email).
