I know times are tough with the economy right now and companies have to lay people off, but to let someone go who has a young child at home and another on the way is just terrible, especially when that person has a public presence. I'm hoping this isn't true, and she either voluntarily decided to move her employment to a different station or has decided to leave her career to be a stay at home mom while her husband provides the income. As much as the latter would be disappointing, I respect her decision. We did get to witness her excellent first pregnancy, and I'm OK with that. Maybe she'll pop up at another station though. Here's hoping.

It's very unusual these days for media personalities to leave on their own volition without some sort of announcement ahead of time. She also took down her Facebook page. So if it wasn't her choice then yeah it's shitty, especially since her medical insurance was likely tied to her employment. Business be business, and local media can be a rough one.

I think the best we can hope for is that there wasn't a serious medical complication that precipitated such an abrupt exit.

Definitely not the smartest move laying off a pregnant meteorologist less than a month after announcing her second pregnancy on air. I hope she finds work elsewhere, but unfortunately I don’t think anything will open up for her until after this pregnancy (also sucks that we’re probably not gonna see anything from her now either)

Geesh, that reeks of discrimination.  Based on the locale and some of the comments, I’m sure they are blaming some of the sagging ratings on viewers complaining that someone’s always pregnant.

I'm sure they weren't happy she got preggers just coming back from maternity leave. However, discrimination is very hard to prove. The simplest, and most likely, explanation is that they really did want to make these changes anyway and didn't give two shits whether she was pregnant or not. Hope she at least negotiated a good severance package.

And yeah, very unlikely she gets another TV job before she pops. Not many places in general are looking to hire pregnant women, and once again, discrimination is very hard to prove.
