Hey y'all
Noticed some buzz around the forum regarding threads and when to add / start. Basically, boils down to two arguments:
- Start a new thread to post original content
- If a large thread was started by another user with a relevant theme add to it
I'm not trying to tell anyone what to do, but maybe this will give some people a voice.

Unless someone specifically asks that only they post content in a thread they create (e.g. "doubleintegral's thread about bullshit") then I don't see the problem with "anthology" threads, so to speak.
Also, while we're sort of on topic, it's trendy to bitch about people bumping old threads, but if they're bumping old threads with new, relevant content and not just useless comments, I say go for it.

What would really be best is a content tagging system. Thread all you want, who cares? But tagging the content would create meta-threads in a way and enforce a type of organization. But that's a new feature and who knows...

I'm fine with new threads generally, but not when it's one user posting multiple "parts" of the same theme. That's what individual posts within a thread are for.
Also, I posted a comment about this on a thread in the pictures section, but it got removed somehow. This happened twice. I didn't even know removing posts was possible by a non-admin. If it was an admin, what rule did I break?

I feel like its based upon what you're bringing to the table. I have a running thread of some above par progressions IMO. But I'm gonna start an individual thread about some Grade A knockout if/when I find them.
Although if one user posts new threads with the same overall theme each time, it does seem like it'd benefit better as a catch all mega thread. mightyhammers thread comes to mind, those 3 threads posted within days of each other shouldve just been one thread, but I dont mind seeing him make up a new one every few months because he posts so seldomly.
Also to piggyback off what Akhenaten was saying. Some sort of tag system would be super beneficial to organizing certain themes. Stuff like #twins #asian #clothed #progression #busty #xxx could really help lump certain users find more of what their looking for in the vast archive of this site.

I agree with what tomostrife has said. I also agree with what Akhenaten also said. We should NOT neckro old post either. I learned my lesson from that one time & if I'm ever planning on talking about an old topic I might just PM someone about the topic so I can let new post live and grow. I also think that the Admin should lock older post that are not being talked about anymore so they don't get neckroed.

i see no problem bumping (necro-ing) old threads if there's new content, or the new download links are provided to replace dead ones. new threads for existing subjects just causes a fustercluck.
i'm just curious as to how this new tagging system works.

How on earth are you not an admin yet? That's a brilliant idea.

Haha, well, I'm here for my people if I'm called to serve! Until then, I'm good just enjoying the community and the beautiful content we share with one another.
In all actuality, I'm sure the real admin has already thought this through and will probably implement it when the board gets its big system overhaul. Tagging is a major component of most modern content management systems, and for good reason.

While you're right, this isn't a content management system, and tagging is actually not a common feature of discussion boards like this one. I don't know what software this board uses, but I wouldn't be surprised if it would require a third-party hack to get set up.
Actually, now that I think about, there's nothing to prevent us from putting tags in our posts right now. Then you can just use the search function to search for that tag. So you could load up any post with tags like #hugebelly #38weeks #LOLtag and it should function like you would expect.
EDIT - Just tested this and it works. You can even search for multiple tags, which a lot of tagging systems don't let you do.
