My Giants finally won a game. Man, they've really wasted Eli Manning's career. I wouldn't blame him if he retired after the season. I'm looking forward to the new Android 17 and Cooler DLCs for Dragon Ball FighterZ. I hope the guys in the Carolinas are doing okay.

Well I don't watch football, so I can't answer that one.

While initially I was in the hurricane's path, it thankfully moved down south, so I ended up getting mostly heavy rain and some mild flooding for a few days. But unfortunately, the grocery store that I work at was hell during that week. So many paranoid customers not only destroying the store, but was bombarding the water section like it was the purge. It got so bad that when the grocery truck arrived with the pallets of water, we literally had to have 3 additional associates guard the water while a forth associate had to pull it out to a crowd of feisty and pissed off customers. That was the only time I ever felt terrified of getting trampled by customers.

As for games, I recently preordered Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu. I'm planning on getting the new Spiderman game, Dragonball Fighterz for the Switch, as well as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Although I may wait until Black Friday for the first two.

I want to get the new Spiderman game, but I don't know how well it'll run on the original PS4 compared to the PS4 Pro. And while I am thinking about upgrading to the Pro since my current PS4 sounds like a leaf blower after a few minutes, I don't know if the additional $100 price tag would be worth it just for one game.

I'm waiting until Black Friday this year before picking up any new games since last year had some pretty good deals.

Honestly unless you have a 4K TV, then it'll be a waste to pick up a Pro for Spider-Man. At most you may see maybe a couple of extra background civilians on the Pro over the original, but the price isn't justified in my opinion.

I finally found this thread again. Anyways I have a few things to add:

1. A while ago I traded in my '02 Ford Taurus for a '18 Ford Focus. As much as I'm in love with the Focus, I would've kept the Taurus a lot longer had the heat didn't go out during one of the worst winters in recent memory. The heat was actually the last straw since I've damn near replaced every component in that car at least once, and I only had the car for only a few years. The car was considered worthless and the repairs were started to cost more than what it was worth. At the time I just got my first real job and couldn't afford a car payment, so I had no choice but to buy a used car.

2. So a few months ago I upgrade my porn collection from a 128gb microSD card to a 256GB SSD. Fast-forward to now and I have to upgrade to a 480GB SSD that thankfully I had laying around from a spare laptop. I'm surprised that I've accumulated all of that space within a really short time frame. Which is funny considering about 5 years ago I was convinced that a 64gb flash drive would last me for the rest of my days.

3. Also @Akhenaten and anyone else living in Texas, how are you guys holding up?

Fuck this shit-ass fucking cold weather. 100 degrees in the summer never sounded so good. I will never ever complain about hot weather again.

Fortunately I was fine, but I know a lot of people who aren't. Have had several people come by to get water now that the roads aren't a goddamn frozen tundra.

I'd wait for the PS5 or get a decent gaming pc. You can always upgrade a gaming rig

Hey @"1Way", thanks for checking in.

I lost power 3 times on Monday; once for half an hour, once for 4 hours, and once for a little over an hour. It didn't go off again after that. I live in a pretty bougie city, I guess, so I'd have to say I'm very privileged and didn't suffer at all. Got a tiny bit worried about food but even then, I managed to get some groceries delivered mid-week (left a huge stinkin' tip, because I consider that hazard pay). Never lost water, never had a boil water directive, and none of my pipes froze/burst (so far as I can tell, anyway). However, I was directed to conserve electricity, natural gas, and water for several days, and I complied. The electricity and water conservation directives have been lifted, and this morning I had my first shower in a week. I am still conserving natural gas (that's how my home is heated) because I haven't received any communication saying that shortage is cleared, and I don't want to be hogging it if others are needing it. I have space heaters and shit if I get too cold.

Truth is, I'm fine. For me, this was nothing more than a minor inconvenience and tremendous source of stress. In D&D terms, I rolled a nat 20. I've had survivor's guilt as others around me have suffered and I've even lost some weight. If we weren't in the middle of a pandemic, I would have been offering some kind of help to people I know who got the shit end of the stick, but I live with someone who would be absolutely fucked if they got sick, so I had to just hunker down and be selfish.

I've lived here all my life and haven't ever seen anything like this. And I've never seen so much snow... quite an experience to walk around in it and have it crunch/pack under my feet. The world may be sneering at us but here's the thing: regardless of who's governing the place, this kind of thing just doesn't happen down here and our infrastructure wasn't built to handle it. We do heat, not butt-fucking freezing cold. Now, that said, the cunts in charge of Texas' power grid are going to have hell to pay. This wild west cowboy "free market" bullshit that puts profit over people has to stop, and I'm ready to see some heads roll. Also, so everyone's aware: Texas has wind turbines, but they froze up because the companies that own them didn't bother to do their due diligence and winterize them... because, you know, that would have cost money, and we can't have that. Texas is still powered mostly by fossil fuels and it is those plants that suffered catastrophic failures. The facts are quite clear, so don't let anyone peddle that "LOL green energy sux" narrative. This was a freak occurrence made substantially worse by the unadulterated greed of plutocracy.

Again, thank you for asking. <3
