Either this will end up being popular, die within a few days, or will end up getting deleted after some heated arguments, but I might as make a thread for non pregnant conversations; Such as what are your plans this weekend? How's work? Or whatever's on your mind that you need advice on.

He's a guy. He's president of a country. His daughter was featured on this site a few times in the past. That's all I got.

Anyway, who else has/or will be getting a Switch soon?

Got a switch back during release and been enjoying it ever since. Recently I've been playing the hell out of Super Mario odyssey. Game is amazing. 236/999 power moons. Doesn't sound like much but I'm trying to find all moons in a single area in my 1st visit.

Also switch is $300.

Akhenaten
This weekend? Shit man, probably working... as usual. But I do love this cold snap! I live in Texas and it's hot for like 10 months of the year, then the roads ice up and no one can drive, and then it gets hot again. So this is a welcome change...

Speaking of Texas, how's the hurricane recovery going? Especially down in Huston?

Good question. I don't live in one of the affected areas, but I can tell you it's going to be a long time before things are completely back to normal. Years, maybe.

Houston got - and still gets - a lot of the Harvey attention because of all the flooding there. And make no mistake, that was a big deal. Most people outside Texas don't know that Harvey was Houston's third major flood (and by far the worst) in a little over two years. Some areas of Houston flooded badly on Memorial Day 2015, then pretty much the same areas and more flooded again on Tax Day in 2016. Harvey fucked up even more shit. I know people there who flooded in 2015, got their houses fixed up just in time to get flooded again in 2016, and then got their houses fixed up again in time to really take it up the ass with Harvey. Just a really shitty situation.

But it wasn't just Houston. Port Aransas, Aransas Pass, and Rockport (all near Corpus Christi) took the brunt of the wind damage and storm surge from Harvey. Many people in those areas lost everything (in Houston, at least people with two-story houses usually "only" lost the contents of their lower floor). Port Aransas is a tourist destination but pretty much all of the businesses and condos there are still closed for repairs, and will be for several months at least. East of Houston, the Beaumont/Golden Triangle area also got really bad flooding. Port Arthur is a town of about 55k and 100% of it flooded. Think about that: every single home and business in the town got water in it.

So Houston grabs the headlines because it's a major city, but Harvey caused major damage really from Corpus Christi to Louisiana.

Wow. Are there any new construction designs that could protect homes and businesses from flooding?
