(January 24, 2023, 2:49 pm)Glittering_You330 I never said that you specifically liked the whole show, so don't hurt yourself for reaching that far. Anyways, the whole hate-watch excuse is B.S when there's a parts that people do actually like. As if it's already not enough that people here have felt the need to defend acknowledging the show at all, let alone dare to watch an episode.
You can like certain aspects of a show and still think it's bad.
The only reason we're even talking about this show at all is because it had a pregnant character in it, and now that she's given birth, we have no reason to talk about it anymore.

You can stop participating in the discussion if you want. There's still those who want to chime in and the artists who said they are planning on making something out of the scenes.

If Mindy Kaling was aware pregnancy was a fetish she would have kept that knocked up character pregnant for as long as possible. It would have kept me interested in parts of the show just for more preggo content and I’m sure other preggophiles also would have continued to keep their eyes on the show.

I don't see why when you're just going to go the pregnant parts and skip everything else. She doesn't want people skimming through her 30 minute show just for a side character.

My point was it’s better to have an entire fetish community keeping the show on their radar. The general audience will satisfy the watching entire episodes part of the equation. Any attention is good attention no matter how you can get it.

I think she is and was aware. Why else would the pregnant character randomly strip and pose for a nude photo shoot like that?

I think she is and was aware. Why else would the pregnant character randomly strip and pose for a nude photo shoot like that? Mostly for shock value. I honestly don’t think Mindy knew what she was doing with that scene however sexualization of pregnancy certainly has become more mainstream. Pregnant girls dancing on Tiktok etc. Basicly it’s okay to do a lot of things with pregnant women in mainstream media that used to be off limits. Hell, there used to be a time the word pregnant was not allowed to be spoken on tv.
Mindy is not the smartest person in a room. That’s why I don’t think she put that pregnant character in there specifically to target us. The way it came and went so fast suggests it’s was there simply for a “I can’t believe this show did that” reaction from viewers.

They're blowing through faster than I thought. Guess it was the right call to not have her pregnant for too long.

The Office actually did have some pregnancy fetish bits with Pam, but I don’t think this show is trying to do something like that - this seems more for shock value, like a lot of things about it.
Kaling wrote a lot for that show, but who knows if that was her joke.
