I have used the smartphone app You Doodle with great success. Pretty much any photo editing software will work. It all depends on your skill level and how well you master using the tools of the program you are using. A good understanding of shadowing and lighting helps.

The You Doodle app has a full list of getting started tutorials. If you are using the latest version, at the top of the screen you’ll see the undo and redo arrows. Next to them will be the layers icon which looks like 3 angled squares. Next to that is the tools icon. Tap it to access the tools menu. From there tap the (?) icon which will take you to the tutorial links. They’re all on YouTube so if you have trouble accessing them from the app you can go to YouTube directly and type You Doodle tutorials in the search window. Hope this helps.
