I remember reading this story a few years back, but can't find it, and was hoping someone here could help.

It was a fairly short story, about a mermaid who swam to a beach to lay her eggs, learning too late that there were a ton of humans on this beach, who kept coming up to her as she labored, poking at her, taking pictures and even stealing some of the eggs.
