Figured I'd give some advice since I've been doing this for a while.

Get an application like Quick/Background Video Recorder or whatever the version for your phone is.  It will allow you to record by hitting whatever button you want.  I use double tap of the power button to start a video.  It will leave your phone black and run in the background.

Videos are always going to be easier than photos.  You can always take stills from the video.  It also has the option to take a picture without opening the camera if you really want photos.

Hold your phone naturally.  Don't look at what you're shooting.  It takes some practice but it becomes second nature.

That's really good advice, thank you, I'll be sure to download a better recording app, and start using videos instead. Would you mind explaining a bit more about what you mean by holding my phone naturally and not looking?

Think about how someone who is just naturally holding their phone would hold it.  Like a palm grip.  Down by your hip, be natural.  I would recommend a pop socket too, makes holding it stable easier.  Get a black one or one that blends into the phone so it doesn't draw attention.

As for not looking at what you're shooting, well, you don't want to stare at the person you're recording or else they're going to think "why is this guy staring at me".  Look away, pretending like you're browsing for clothes, whatever.  They'll completely disregard you as non-suspicious.  It takes some practice but once you learn how to just quickly glance to make sure your target is in frame you'll be able to track naturally without staring at what you're shooting.

Yeah I would say practice beforehand so you know what will be in frame as you're holding the phone at a certain angle. Then you will be certain to have the subject in frame without having to look at the phone, just by feel.

Got a couple of kind mediocre shots, but using video was way more comfortable as you guys recommended. Definitely need to work on positioning and angles in the mean time, I'll try testing it out soon, see if my results improve.

I miss taking the train into the everyday for this reason. You don't see much pregnancy working from home.

Saw these two women just before a train arrived and snagged a few shots.

Couldn't get any good angles unfortunately. She had a nice bump, not huge, but she was very cute.

Got a brief video of this woman walking by. I couldn't get a shot of her from the side sadly. She was quite large from the side when I first spotted her. I've got a short 9 second video if anyone is interested.
