Yep same, I'm on mobile and this was my solution idk about desktop.

Instead of using the import button on the bottom of the screen use the three vertical dots to the right of the folder/file. For some reason that made the difference. Unfortunately that means you can only do one file at a time

some video types are not supported by mega so you would need to download them then use a video player like vlc : )
