I use kaspersky, and it says mega's sec. cert. was out of date. However, I haven't heard anyone else with this problem yet.
Yes, i tried for an hour disabling various settings in my anti software, didnt help.

I actually have a mega account for all of my own personal files. The service itself is more than appropriate/legal.  I have 8 terabytes of cloud storage I share with my friends and family.

And with popularity comes restrictions. MEGA is straight up shit with DCMA claims to the point where entire accounts have been locked because some troll put in a claim on one single video.  Only a fool would rely on a tempermental service to store precious data.

Also there's a difference between you sharing files between your small group of friends and family, and sharing a bunch of videos to the entire internet.

That is completely incorrect even with the "that I know of" qualifier, unless you've never heard of Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, and iCloud.  All of these services are objectively more popular because they are used by consumers, families, and businesses in massive numbers.  Mega may only seem like the most popular to you because the mainstream cloud storage services have cracked down on sharing copyrighted content.

It's also known for being a way to store/share pirated software, which brings a huge risk for malware.  That alone is reason enough for corporate networks large and small to block that shit.

Using your personal MEGA account on company's internet raises a lot of security and legal concern. It's important to us that we know what you're doing, any suspicious activity you - or anyone does using company's internet will of course lead back to the company and it can face repercussions for your actions. HR would also get on your ass if you store some company data on your personal cloud storage. Using a MEGA account managed by your IT department is a different story.
