There has definitely been increase in infertility in either women or men or both. This leads to treatments and hopefully pregnancy. Infertility treatments have definitely resulted in more multiples pregnancies and even bigger babies (weights and height). Genetics and changes to lifestyle seem to definitely play a role in infertility and more women are having children later in life causing similar issues.

But aside from what we already know, what I've noticed is the sudden jolt of spontaneous pregnancies, especially multiples. It seems that after all these treatments, hormones and maybe one successful pregnancy due to a shock to the reproductive system. From infertile to fertile. I feel like fertility has weakened over time and we need, interestingly enough, chemicals to correct it; chemicals also being the reason for infertility.

This all just my opinion. The type of stuff you think about at 2 AM but let me know what you think.

I saw it somewhere that this quarantine will lead to more divorce and babies.....perhaps this has something to do with it?

Don't think this affects infertility.

I think you're correct that fertility has dropped, but I believe it is a social issue, not a medical one. There is more infertility because people wait longer to have kids, so they're more likely to need medical intervention. One snippet from the NY Times says, "The average age of first-time mothers is 26, up from 21 in 1972, and for fathers it's 31, up from 27." But that is a gross over-simplification. In general, college-educated women wait longer to have kids than non-college-educated women (maybe 8 years). When you consider that the percentage of college grads who are women has grown to 60%, that's a lot of babies not being conceived. Plus, marriage and divorce rates are at historic lows and highs, respectively.

Here's the article: hxxps://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/08/04/upshot/up-birth-age-gap.html#:~:text=The%20average%20age%20of%20first%2Dtime%20mothers%20is%2026%2C%20up,of%20first%20birth%20is%2031.
