I thought it was my computer for a while, but this is the only website where I have excessively long loading times for pages. Anybody else having this problem recently?

[IN-PROGRESS] Site running slow?
|
|||||||
yes, I had some problems today, in fact I accused my internet provider for it. If someone had the same loading problems it's because of site unfortunately.
The site is indeed slow -- someone or something caused a massive spike in resource usage earlier today. Moreover, we're receiving large amounts of traffic and the script cannot handle tens of thousands of attachments.
Everything is being redeveloped around XenForo as a replacement, a much more efficient and reliable script, however this process is proving more tedious and time-consuming than expected. Without going into too much detail, every thread URL needs to be redirected to new URLs manually (there are 3,500 threads) to avoid 404 errors and a loss of search engine traffic.
Question to admin: is the script folder dependent or full URL dependent? In another life I do freelance Web design, but I don't pretend to know how forums work. But what I'm thinking is that perhaps it would be possible to move the old part if the site to like preggophilia.com/old/ and then have users help build the new forum with links to the old. Did that make any sense?
