Hi all,

I can't figure out what the deal is.

Each time I try to save a photo, it tries to save it as Attachment with the extension jpeg.

So, I rename the file "a4reafgar" or whatever. When I go to the folder, it is saved as a4reafgar.php

Not a jpg at all! I've cleared my cache, I've cleared my temp folder.

Any ideas? :/

The picture link comes up in my browser as

http://preggophilia.com/attachment.php?aid=113860

so there is the name attachment.php

But, I can see in my tab the photo is actually 2ch2jG.jpg

Thank you in advance

Hi GR -- I've cycled through all of my browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, IE) and can replicate the issue under certain conditions.

When right-clicking and saving a file I'm prompted with the original filename (in this case 2ch2jG.jpg) and the appropriate extension. However, when dragging the file it does indeed save as attachment.jpg (the name as shown in the URL coupled with an image extension).

Is this a new issue for you? What browser and platform are you using? Attachments are served through attachment.php and the title is actually pulled from the database. Most browsers will use the page title when saving (in the conventional way) but I wouldn't be surprised if some mobile browsers fail to do this.

Hey, nice to hear from you!

Thank you for the help!

It started a few days ago.

I am using FireFox 39.0 and I am on the same laptop I have been using for a couple of years now.

I even uninstalled firefox using control panel and reinstalled. Still having the issue.

And, to clarify, I am not dragging the file - I am doing what you did: right click, save as

The original file name.jpg SHOULD appear (it used to) but it does not :/

No problem at all -- this is a client-side issue but let's try to solve it. If you haven't done so already, can you give Chrome or IE a try to check if it's just Firefox?

I'm getting this as well, started happening 4 or 5 days ago. I'm using the latest firefox and using the right click/save as method.

That coincides with the version 39 update if I'm not mistaken. Can you test Chrome or IE?
GRcompy
It's definitely an issue with firefox.

I don't have this problem when I use IE. But to be honest, I really abhor IE or chrome..

I'm running an older version of Firefox (each iteration seems to get worse) -- let me test things out on a different system and see if a solution can't be worked out.

Just an update: we're still looking into this issue and haven't forgotten it.

This is somewhat inconvenient and the attachment must be opened in a tab, but select the "Open Menu" button (top-right of the browser) and choose "Save Page".
