I once read that the reason why people are attracted to pregnant women is because they hide a sexual attraction to their own mothers, which is why they develop an attraction to pregnant women or even other things such as breastfeeding. Personally I think it is not my case, I'm not even into breastfeeding, however, I do know cases of people who are attracted by their own mothers. What do you think? Do you think it could your case? or do you think there could be any relation between these two things?

I think that might be true for some, but i also think it mostly triggers an instinct that recognizes a healthy, fertile & usually willing woman that the man can continue his genes with.

This is one of the most fascinating aspects of this fetish to me. I remember some years ago, like 11, someone posted about a psychologist who was also a maeisiophile and his studies on it. While its said that the fetish can come from moms, its usually older siblings who are at a certain developmental stage while the mother is pregnant. For myself, that stage of life lines up with a teacher's aid I had in first grade, and then was pregnant by the time I was in 3rd grade. My sexuality developed seemingly early, and I remember being enamored with her when she was my aid. Then when she came back from summer break two years ago, she looked absolutely incredible. Thus a core memory was formed lol.

I think Freud had a lot of fucked up ideas, and everything going back to mommy and daddy is one of them. I am of the opinion that while sure, it's possible that an older sibling seeing a pregnant mom could be the catalyst, it's probably not like that most of the time. I think humans are naturally attracted to fertility, and for some of us, it manifests as maiesiophilia. No need to complicate things.

Psychology student here: I'd say that each individual who had developed this fetish here have wildly different origins as to how it came to be, but one thing is certain, further research would be needed if such a fetish like this can stimulate an individual's want to multiply and flourish. As for the theories as to how this fetish came to be, it is fairly likely that the best time for a fetish to manifest and develop would be of the formative years of the human lifespan, from as young as 3-4 years of age to as old as 13-16 years of age; there will be exceptions to the rule given here, but they're just that, exceptions, so I'll disregard them for the argument that I'm making right now.

For me, the fetish developed when I was 5-6 years old, most likely when I get to spot a pregnant neighbour's enormous belly being hidden under a large green dress. It all went downhill from there, so to say, so here I am today, discussing on what makes us preggo-loving individuals tick. And if one's research ethics board would agree to a longitudinal study if maisiophilia's an inheritable trait, that would be nice as well, as I believe that this fetish has a biological purpose and advantage to it for the survival of the human species.

In other words, we all get the “nurture” side: I had the experience of seeing a pregnant woman which triggered something (eventually) sexual within me. I’m still wondering about the “nature” side. What’s different in our wiring for that to be the pathway it takes, versus the pathway it takes in others?

I may have an explanation as to why that is; if I recall my studies in Theories of Personality, there's the school of thought that is behaviourism, of which the proponents of that thinking suggests that humans have no "free will" in the definition of one's personality and that our own behaviour and way of thinking are shaped by a series of intended and unintended psychological reinforcements to an individual at the right time when they're open to suggestibility or learning of a particular behaviour.

For instance, if we go by that school of thought, maisiophilia, or rather, most of the known paraphilias, or fetishes as the laymen would describe it, can be introduced to a person if they're both willing and open to learn new experiences, and those openings are most notable during one's formative years. So if you combine a stimulus with a given desired result, like a dog being fed food before ringing the bell and repeating that over and over until the sound of the bell is associated with food, you can "train" a person to like or dislike something based on how you'll teach it. That would explain why certain phenomena on the Internet, like the cursed Elsagate controversy on YouTube, is so effective in brainwashing children into liking rather depraved stuff, our fetish included. Maybe when I was exposed to that moment, I was having my first erection and that stimulus and erection simultaneously caused myself to associate pregnant women with getting erect.
