Well, it's that time again, folks. Horny and high on a Friday night.

The last 5 to 6 weeks has seen me working at a different center than the one I'm usually stationed to work at. In the time right before, I was frequently getting to see a co-worker who I could tell was really starting to blow up in her pregnancy. Small skinny white woman who married a huge dude. While I've been away, I keep thinking about how she must be doing. She was about 29 weeks when I left, and even then I didn't get to see her a lot in the weeks leading up to it because she was out a lot once she really started to progress in her pregnancy. I keep seeing her on the schedule at my regular center. She'd be about 34 or 35 weeks at this point and I'd really be curious to see just how she's doing. She misses a lot of days but is still working. I work at this center one more week before going back to my regular one where I can see her. I'm really hoping I'll be able to see what she looks like before she pops. This lead me to thinking about what singular word or phrase do I love hearing a pregnant woman called.

Let me set up the scenario for you:
If you were at a bar and someone who you didn't know was referenced as being pregnant (ex. a friend of a friend you don't know, somebody talking about a co-worker you don't know, a neighbor, etc...), what SINGULAR phrase would you love to hear being said about this woman.

I like a lot of the classics, of course, come to mind. "Huge, very pregnant, she's ready to pop." But I think the one I love hearing the most, and you very rarely hear it, is "exceptionally."

"How's your sister back home doing?"
"Oh my God, I don't know, but I've heard she's exceptionally pregnant at this point."

The idea that someone is doing exceptionally well at pregnancy, implying they are exceeding the expectations of what one would think pregnancy would look like on her, is such an interesting word choice that excited the imagination for me.

So let's hear it! What are your favorite ways to hear a pregnant woman described to you in general conversation?

One point of consideration is that I think the key aspect of this that makes it really interesting is that it's not how a pregnant woman herself is describing her. It's someone else having to describe a pregnant woman to you or a group of people in a casual and conversationally-acceptable sense.

Hate to be a bore, but the phrase, "heavily pregnant," in just about any context is probably my #1 favorite.

I think it's more the opposite I love to hear.

There are two descriptions in spanish that I've always been fond of: "encinta" and "preñada", which I guess are different ways of saying "knocked up". And there's also "de encargo", which means "That girl is expecting".

As a native Spanish speaker: you can also say she is “panzona”

"What exclamations of women taken suddenly who hurry home and give birth to babes,."
Song of Myself, -Walt Whitman.

Also a great favorite of mine.

I always liked a good "ready to burst" with the implied pressure, discomfort, and imminent birth. And "burst" seems a little more violent than "pop" to me.

"Knocked up", "so pregnant", "too pregnant", "as big as a house" are among my top faves.

"Starting to show" or anything like people saying "there's the bump!" when a pregnant woman starts to grow a belly gets me going
Had a pregnant collegue show her belly to co-workers a few weeks and there were so many comments like that

Depends on context for me. I love short-and-sweet descriptors when spoken:
- Bred
- Due / Overdue
- Heavy
- Swollen

But well-written literature can effectively use more illustrative wordplay:
- Burdened (to describe it negatively)
- Bursting (especially in relation to clothes)
- Engorged (best used to refer to breasts, but can equally emphasize the filled nature of the belly or womb)
- Gravid (most technical, also bound under her own gravity)
- Planetary (exagerated, but emphasizes roundedness of a belly)
- Protruding (emphasizes its disproporiton to the rest of her body)
- Ripe / Ripened (womb as a metaphorical fruit)
- Unwieldy (in relation to physical activity)
