Nobody likes going to the dentist, it's just one of those things you do cause you've gotta do it. I showed up to a recent appointment and was pleasantly surprised to be called in by a heavily pregnant dental hygienist who looked to be about 7 or 8 months along. I take my seat, and she starts doing her job, but as she's leaning over me to clean my teeth, her belly is seriously pressing into my head! For over half an hour, I didn't even notice what she was doing to my teeth and gums, all I could feel was that big, heavy belly pressing into the top and sides of my head as she moved around to get it from different angles. I was paying attention to feel for kicks but unfortunately didn't notice any, even when she was really leaning in. I don't think she even noticed or cared. This is a professional woman who has a job to do and happens to be growing a little human inside her. This is just another day at the office, and she's working around her changing body as best she can. I imagine some patients might feel awkward or even grossed out, but for me, this was better than a lap dance. Had I known this was coming, I'd have eaten a whole box of Oreos in the parking lot. All that pressing and rubbing right against my head, it was a serious effort to keep from getting hard right there in the chair!
After seeing the dentist, I chatted her up a bit and stole some glances at the strained fabric of her scrubs. I went back a month later for a follow-up appointment and unfortunately didn't get the same girl, but I did see her, a month farther along, and absolutely busting out of her maternity scrubs! I seriously considered asking if I could wait for her instead.
