Interesting, can even think of a little story for the pirate one. Maybe both the girl and a cabin boy joined a pirate crew out of lust for adventure. They soon fell in love with each other and in their relationship the cabin boy accidentally gets the girl pregnant. After they find out about, they are initially terrified: Being so young and restless, neither of them wanted this to happen, and (this being the 1700's on a ship with no formal doctor that's weeks away from port) there was no opportunity to attempt a termination. Fearing the worst for themselves and their unborn child, they approached the old captain and the girl let loose her hair and revealed her bump. Waiting for an expression of anger, the young couple were surprised to see the captain nod in understanding and open up to warm-hearted conversation. That day, the captain crossed out their previous target and set sail to a little-known port, one he knew would give the best chance for the baby to live a good life once adopted and later contact their birth parents. The girl was allowed to do all the physical work she felt capable of and the crew and her cabin boy lover would do anything else needed to keep her comfortable.
After years of aimlessness and weeks of fear and lost hopes, the young couple now see a path forward..., even if it had to give them a bump along the way.
