(July 26, 2023, 11:14 pm)auraman9005 Oh, a fun fact: the ethnicity that is most likely to bear twins are the Yoruba people in Africa, but here's the catch: they eat a specific species of yam that has this natural form of plant-based oestrogen called a "phytoestrogen" that induces ovulation in both ovaries, making multiple pregnancies to be more likely. And of course, MILFs aged 40 and up tend to be more likely to get pregnant with multiples due to their faltering reproductive organs, which has the tendency to cause ovulation for both ovaries and couple with the fact that eggs from older women tend to have some "defects" that would be make it more likely to split into two zygotes once fertilized.

Hmm, very interesting! Between this and palm date fruit I think I have found some foods to start feeding my girl when we start trying Wink
Alright, I think I've pinned down the specific species that has the appropriate phytoestrogen concentration that you might be interested in: it's the White Guinea Yam, which is consumed by the Yoruba, so there.

Awesome work. Looks difficult to find these specific Yams, unfortunately. It'll take some more research to find good supplies of them.

I found out that Mazafati dates are particularly nutritious, however. And here's a list of Phytoestrogen-producing produce: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Phytoestrogen

Now, keep in mind, not all phytoestrogens are equal in terms of function from what I've read: some of such molecules even inhibit some reproductive functions when consumed in moderate to high amounts, like soybeans and their byproducts. Hence why I went for the yam and date palm fruits, since I recall and read that they've been proven to be effective in improving fertility in the former and breast growth in the latter, both by circumstance and some correlational studies regarding such foodstuffs.

On the supply, I suggest that you get a contact in West Africa that is either a person or a supplier from maybe Nigeria or other neighboring countries to have you supplied with those yams. Oh and if you fancy it, maybe ask of their recipes for those yams when cooking them, that'll be fun too. I'd also advise you to be careful when going through this step, as those countries in West Africa are not exactly known for their trustworthiness.

I've been reading this: https://realfoodforpregnancy.com/

The writer bases as much of her book on science as she can and I think it's a great resource for healthful eating during pregnancy.

Does anyone have good reading suggestions?
