To everyone who's anticipating for a boom........yeah how do you expect people to take care of the expenses if they're out of a job? You do realize that having a child isn't cheap, and you'll be spending thousands of dollars just to bring the child into the world, let alone having to spend 18 years raising it. You can't rely on your countries health care and insurance is hit or miss at best, so ask yourselves this: Who in the right mind would try to get pregnant while jobless and in the middle of a pandemic? If you see currently pregnant women struggling during this time, what makes you think you getting pregnant now would yield better results?

I swear, every single person who makes these types of threads either don't think, are broke themselves, or don't understand how much shit cost.

I just heard on my local news that there is an uptick in pregnancies over the last few months. As for the associated costs, it depends if you're a first time parent or not, and what country you live in. Not that I want more kids now, but I have everything needed to raise another kid if needed so not much additional cost there. Also benefit from a public health system in my country, so all health costs are paid through our collective tax deductions, so no direct cost just for procreating. Depending on a person's line of work, many are doing well and maintaining steady income whether working from home or working in essential industry. Keeping up social distancing has proven pretty effective, I haven't even had a cold in months now, let alone anything serious. I hope these practices stay on people's minds later on, sucks when we all get sick at work because some hero can't stay home for a day or two when sick because they're worried they might get shit from their boss. Hopefully a few paid sick days will become statutory.

I'm getting way off topic here, but just wanted to show that not everything is falling apart and life will move on. Hopefully there will be some reform afterwards as there are obvious weaknesses in society, and the social safety net doesn't catch us all.

On a final note, not everyone plans for pregnancy during prosperous financial times when we are all healthy and free of risk of disease. Some just dont plan at all ;P

Well I think about these and other things. Also, I'm not broke, still working, and I know shit costs a lot like kids.

Gee I guess I made this thread to start a conversation and consider a valid topic. ? hmm who would've thought lol

I dunno about everyone else but I feel like I've been seeing a really big spike in births in the past few weeks, but given the timeframe that has nothing to do with the pandemic.
