(July 18, 2020, 12:53 pm)evokombat Which is the point of the graph (and how you looked passed it, even though it was dead obvious) Many people here are claiming that the U.S and UK are the worst in the world when it comes to wearing masks, yet it's proved otherwise that there even worst countries out there.

1.  Fine, you got us.  We're not the absolute worst at wearing masks.  Bragging about that is not a winning argument, though.

2.  I don't think anyone here is specifically litigating which country is the worst at wearing masks, but rather which country is doing the worst at controlling the outbreak.  If that's the argument, then fine, we're not the absolute worst (in terms of cases or deaths per 100k people).  You got us.  See point #1.

3.  The poll question you posted, when considered all by itself, ignores a LOOOOOOOOT of context.  I always wear a mask when I leave the house, unless I'm exercising.  Does that count as "always"?  Technically, no.  Also, some of the countries on this list that don't wear masks may not necessarily be "bad" at wearing masks, they may just not *need* to if their outbreak is better than ours.  For example, 64% of Australians say they never wear a mask in public.  Might be because they have among the lowest deaths per 100k people.  But I will admit that as long as the US is above the UK and Sweden in that poll, then fine, the US isn't the worst at wearing masks among countries that *should* be.  You got us.  See point #1.

Overall: weird flex, bro.  Do you sleep better at night knowing we have the 9th-worst number of deaths per 100k people instead of the absolute worst?  I don't.  Besides, who gives a shit anyway?  There is no logical way to look at this in any absolute terms and say that this country hasn't shit the bed with COVID-19.  THAT is the real point that whoever it is you're trying to argue with is making.  But hey, at least you punked some Internet strangers in a battle of semantics, right?

...am I allowed to just ^THIS^? Because I need to.

(March 27, 2020, 10:34 pm)IntoPreggos I know this isn't the end of the world, 1% of the world population will catch it and this will end in half a year, but covid19 is a serious disease we need to fight to save lives and stop the spread. Use common sense to prevent a not so mortal, but hard to treat disease: wash hands often, do social distancing when in public, follow lockdown orders, cover your cough and sneeze with your sleeve, and try to not touch your face with bare hands and fingers ( get the hand sanitizer ready). Be in mind many elderly, immune compromised and unhealthy people are at high risk, then again you realize no human is immune to the new virus.
Looking back on this thread 2 years later...on 2s day 02/22/2022. I had a mild case in Jan 2021 that was less strong than my chickenpox when I was 16 (I turned 42 last week). Now with a vaccine, antibody treatments, a new "red" pill to treat severe COVID illness, the higher emphasis on wearing masks (CA had a mandate to wear them indoors in public places ended last week after 2 months) and newer variants that are more contagious but less problematic to become endemic turning into a future cold.

CDC has said Natural Immunity is on average 6 times better than Mrna protection, but of course natural immunity varies from person to person. Some reports indicate people who caught Corona viruses in the early 200os have not been reinfected since then. Took care of mom when she had Delta for two weeks in June 21 and didn't catch it. I had covid in Feb. 2020 and recovered, have been exposed to positive people a dozen times since then and have not gotten sick again, also missed out on the Omicron brand. Not one tool alone will solve the virus problem but rather a mixture of tools used in the right ways. Not everyone can take the same medicines and thinking that they can and should is ignorant, we lose over a thousand ppl per year in the US to Tylenol related deaths alone. I'd like to grade humanity's response to Covid with a F. I'd like to grade humanity's exploitation of the virus for power, profit, and fear with an A+. Kudos to ppl for saying enough and asking lots of questions though. Without questions science is just propaganda. History will not be kind to humanity over this. We need to find sustainable methods to control diseases. Everything we did for 2 years was a goof ball show of fear based thinking and knee jerk reaction. We will pay the price of the last 2 years for the next 2 decades, you'll see. If it happens again a legion of folks will not take it serious. Yes I lost loved ones to Covid and yes I have issues with their hospital treatment. Our healthcare system is fucked up, exhibit A the opioid crisis. After being a long time left leaner I'm now center and don't plan on voting for any of the assholes who are currently incumbents. Foolish recklessness won't solve a virus nor will being a scared asshole and mandates fix them, as we've seen. Buy food, shit's bout to get really rough.

Not the first pandemic humanity's been in, and will definitely not be the last. And no matter how well prepped you'll get, this will happen again. Whether in your lifetime or in about 100 years. Spanish Flu, Great Asian flu of 1957-58, H3N2, Swine Flu, and Yellow Fever all happened just within the past century and some change alone.

Based on that, we'll all see at least one more pandemic before kicking the bucket. And it'll be the same exact response over and over again. So no use bitching about a mask or mandate, just pick a side and buckle up.

It stops him from seeing you, which all that matters.

It only stops me from private messaging him. He still sees my comments & replies. I'm going to keep commenting on threads & replying to people's comments (even if they "blocked me") so the only way for people not to see my comments is to not go to threads "don't like don't look". I'll be here LONG after you & others are LONG gone from.this site. I'll still be here in 2049. (Granted a nuke doesn't blow us up)

Going out on a limb here and assuming that TCL doesn’t understand that blocking someone means you have to click to see their message. To us lucky few who have him blocked already, we’re quite happy with ourselves. It’s honestly a game changer for using this site.

With all of that being said, we can see his comments when people reply to them. In the future, can we limit how many people directly reply to his comments? It’s a net positive if less people have to interact with his statements
