I got to work, pay bills, and enjoy life. And there's no way in hell I'm letting anyone keep me from going outside my own home.

But seriously, if I get sick no big deal. And believe me, I have enough common sense to practice proper hygiene and not be around any vunrable person if the case that I do get sick.

I picked a poor time to legitimately run out of toilet paper

I'm "hunkered down", doing my part and keeping my germs to myself/avoiding others' germs as best I can, will be working from home soon, looking at news in small doses to avoid spiraling.

Also - looking forward to perhaps the only silver lining to all of this - the self-quarantine induced corona baby boom that we'll see grow over this year

It's been a bitch and a half, I've been planning on fixing my car, taking strolls, and watching movies but covid-19 has thrown a wrench into my plans. I knew nothing about the shortage of supplies so imagine my surprise seeing that most of the toilet paper/bread was gone, I've been given the stink-eye because I'm buying in bulk but here's the thing: I've been buying in bulk for the last 2 years but now apparently I am part of the problem. It bothers me that people are buying sanitizers but not also body wash/hand wash, like if you want to be really fucking clean buy both! It also irritates me that people are actually fucking using the sanitizing wipes after years of ignoring it, like oh NOW you care about being clean?!

Yeah, I am a lot less concerned about covid-19 than most people because it's basically the common cold but I will head warning and I will stay inside to minimize the spread.

That's been said during Blizzards, hurricanes, Valentine's day, and winter break or pretty much anytime people are stuck at home. And so far none of them had caused a boom. I doubt this virus will cause people to start breeding like rabbits.

Here in the Philippines, all of Luzon is under "enhanced quarantine", which means that all movement throughout the region, apart from supply operations, would be heavily restricted. As of now, the borders between the parts of the region were locked nice and tight, which caused some tension between the border guards, which are a mix of police and military personnel, and the citizens who wished to cross through. Some cases of profiteering by opportunistic resellers of "essentials" were also recorded. And yeah, even my family is going nuts over it. But hey, if it's any consolation and if my projections are correct, a possible baby boom would come over the coming months, which means more material to go around for us. 

The media has done an excellent job scaring the crap out of people and convincing governments around the world to basically tank the global economy with draconian quarantine measures. I understand the risk the virus poses to at risk individuals but, I'm not convinced the extent of these quarantine measures are even necessary. The same guidelines for protection against the flu seems more than enough. We've had weird flu like viruses come out of East Asia before and never panicked like this before. I don't know guys. The whole thing seems kind of suspicious to me.

i have no concern or worry about it. the Media has hyped this strain of flu (literally all it is) and has everyone hysterical that it's the end of humanity. it's business as usual for me, i am washing my hands, i disinfect my work vehicle, but i'm not taking any drastic measures. my State has already banned larger gatherings and events all over have been cancelled or postponed. the museum i volunteer at has been closed until further notice. it's all absolutely ridiculous, but no one ever listens to facts, it what media says.

It seems awfully convenient that the hardest hit countries are all ones that were reeling from mass protests in the past year (Iran, China, Italy). It's almost as if the governments are all using this as an opportunity to silence dissension. Want to get rid of some pesky Hong Konger or Iranian who won't shut up about how their inalienable rights should be respected? Just van them saying they've got Coronavirus and release some press statement saying they died from it.
